How BOTOX Works
BOTOX Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable product designed to give you a refreshed appearance by diminishing wrinkles caused by facial muscle contractions. It does not fill in wrinkles like Restylane®, RADIESSE®, and other injectable fillers. Instead, BOTOX relaxes targeted facial muscles to gradually smooth away signs of time, stress, and fatigue. The active ingredient is a diluted, purified form of botulinum toxin A, which is completely safe in its injectable form and when administered by Robert Herbstman, MD, FACS.
Dysport works in a very similar way to BOTOX, but contains a different product formulation. What to Expect
BOTOX treatments are performed as a quick office visit that is usually complete in under 30 minutes. New Jersey patients are free to return to their normal activities immediately afterwards. Within 3 to 5 days of treatment, targeted wrinkles will begin to smooth out. Improvements will gradually progress for about 2 weeks. The result is a smooth, well-rested, and youthful appearance that lasts for up to 6 months. In order to keep the wrinkles away, most patients require maintenance treatments every 4 to 6 months.
